FC kills 13 suspected militants in Balochistan’s Awaran

At least 13 suspected militants were killed during an exchange of fire with Frontier Corps (FC) personnel in Balochistan’s Awaran district on Tuesday.

FC Spokesman Khan Wasey said security forces launched an operation against miscreants in different areas of Mashkay tehsil of Awaran district during which an exchange of fire took place with suspected militants. Subsequently 13 militants were killed. “Some key commanders were also killed during the action,” Wasey said. Security forces also recovered weapons from their possession.

An FC soldier was killed and two security personnel were also injured during the exchange of fire with the militants, the FC spokesman added.

Security forces have intensified their actions in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan after the announcement of National Action Plan to combat terrorism in the country.

  1. Baloch Council of North America strongly condemn the FC's unwarranted raids and search operations in Balochistan. These raids and search operations are not only counter productive but also they will not yield any positive results or help in to bring peace and stability in the province. We ask the FC to immediately release the innocents in custody and exercise restraint in using force against the local population at large. Not every one in Balochistan should be labeled as a terrorist until proven guilty by the court of law. Due process of law must be upheld and followed in any circumstances at all cost and no one, including the FC, should be immune or above the law. We also ask the Baloch militants to immediately declare a unilateral cease fire, end their war, lay down their arms and use only democratic and peaceful means of struggle to secure the Baloch genuine rights within the federation.
