QUETTA: Balochistan National Party President Sardar Akhtar Mengal on Sunday said people from other provinces were moving to Balochistan at an “alarming pace”.
In a statement, the BNP president said that his party would not allow the thousands year old Baloch history, civilisation, culture and language be flooded by change of demography.
He added that the Gwadar mega projects would not succeed unless the Baloch are given the ownership rights of their resources. He said that the silence of the Baloch rulers on the economic corridor is criminal.
Mengal also said that the rulers have adopted a conciliatory policy for fear of annoying their masters and have stopped defending the Baloch interests. He said that the Balochistan’s problem still exists and efforts are being made to divert the attention from the real problem.
He said that their forefathers defended the land by laying down their lives, adding that they would also not deter from rendering such sacrifices. He said that the efforts for the national identity and survival are their topmost priority, adding that such a development keeps no importance, which turns the majority into minority. He said that the influx from other provinces poses a threat to the Baloch majority and it could not be ignored.
