QUETTA: Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan claimed to have arrested at least 11 terrorists, including four suicide bombers, of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan during a raid in Kuchlak, suburbs of Quetta, on Sunday and also seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition, spokesperson for FC Balochistan said.
Security forces acting upon the intelligence information have launched a massive search operation against the militants of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Quetta’s Kuchlak area, about 40 kilometres off downtown. “FC personnel have arrested four suicide bombers among the 11 terrorists of TTP,” spokesperson said on Sunday. A huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession. “FC seized suicide vests, homemade bombs, explosives and arms,” he said.
According to the spokesperson, three terrorists who were arrested along with 11 belonged to troubled Waziristan. “They wanted to carry out subversive activities in Quetta. However, FC had foiled the terror bid,” he added. There was a huge compound in the area, which was raided by FC. “Security forces have increased their search operations in Loralai and adjoining areas and killed six terrorists in recent days,” he said. These militants had carried out attacks on security checkposts, police convoy and were involved in kidnappings.
Inspector General FC Balochistan Major General Sher Afgan has lauded the efforts of FC and secret agencies for their timely action to save the provincial capital from massive terror bid. “Security forces will take all the necessary steps to eliminate the terrorists and end their criminal activities,” he said.
