Tajikistan ambassador calls on Balochistan chief minister

QUETTA: Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan Sherali S Jononov heading a delegation called on Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch here on Thursday.
During the meeting, Balochistan chief minister and Tajik envoy exchanged views on affairs of mutual interest. The ambassador said that Gwadar Port would play an important role in the development of China and other Central Asian countries.
“Tajikistan and Balochistan enjoy similarity in culture to a great extent, and there is need of more research in culture and other fields,” he added. He proposed that special seats should be allocated for students of Balochistan and Tajikistan in educational institutions on both sides. “The representatives of Central Asian countries are keen to visit Gwadar,” he added.
On the occasion, Balochistan chief minister welcomed the visit of Tajik delegation to Balochistan and said that through Gwadar Port and proposed economic corridor new vistas of development would open.
“Gwadar Port can play a pivotal role in the development of Central Asian countries,” he said, adding that the provincial government would welcome investment of Tajikistan in Balochistan, especially in Gwadar port city. The chief minister also urged upon the Tajik ambassador for taking steps and extending further cooperation to promote culture and research on both sides.
